Amazing and unique ring made in England c1900 to 1910, in the Edwardian period. It is set in a fine eighteen-carat yellow gold setting and is set in the centre with an old brilliant-cut diamond set within eight claws.
The diamond weight is four carats and twelve points.
What is most unusual about this ring is that it is set on each side with a cabochon-cut fire opal.
Fire opals themselves are beautiful in colouring from reds to greens to yellows, and to get the combination of such a large stone with opal stones is really, really unusual, and is more than likely a special commission made for a special customer all those years ago.
