Really unusual and unique ring known as a Fede ring from Italy. C1770.
Fede rings were made in Europe from the 12th century and came originally from Italy. This beautiful example is set in twenty-two-carat yellow gold. Fede rings represent loyalty, faith and trust, and the hands clasped of course represent the connection between two people.

It has a very similar meaning as our Irish Claddagh ring, and it may even have inspired it. There are also sometimes used as an asking ring, a promissory ring, an engagement ring, or even a wedding band.
