Highly singular dual emerald and diamond ring (circa 1900)

This ring was certainly a special request at the time, as it is highly unusual in its design and in the shapes involved.
It was made in England c1900, set in a fine eighteen-carat yellow gold setting with a cushion-cut diamond at the top, an Asccher-cut Colombian emerald at the bottom (unless you want it the other way round…), in a two-stone twist style (toi-et-moi) setting with smaller diamonds on each sides.
It is made to look like two rings were joined, and it may have celebrated the union of two very strong individuals who wanted to retain their singular identities.
