Very unusual pair of late Victorian period brooches made in England c1880.
They are set in fine eighteen-carat yellow gold, and depict two lizards, most likely two geckos.
They can be worn on the lapel of a jacket and arranged any which way, because they have a beautiful chain in between, which is set with three natural pearls. The geckos’ eyes are set with rubies, and their skin is rendered with all round cut diamonds and beautiful Colombian emeralds running along their spines.
