Really unusual ring, wonderfully late Victorian, made in England c1880 to 1900. It is set in a fine eighteen-carat yellow gold setting and unusually it is set with an oval-shaped cabochon-cut fiery opal in the centre, and a ruby and sapphire on both sides, all set within a four clawed setting. The combination of the Opal, ruby and sapphire is very unusual and it must have had a secret meaning to someone in the late Victorian era, maybe linked to a country or to a daughter and son.
