Unusual late Victorian bug brooch, made in England c1880, it is set in a fine eighteen-carat yellow gold setting with a bug perched upon a bar, it is set with single cushion garnet, old cut Victorian diamonds, two rubies and a single natural pearl.
The shape of the body and the number of legs tell us that it is a spider, maybe a black widow.
