Very unusual piece: a wonderful brooch made in the form of a peacock.
Peacocks are often associated with good luck and good fortune, but also loyalty.
This wonderful example was made c1920 to 1930. It is made in fine eighteen-carat yellow gold and beautifully hand enamelled with the most wonderful colours blues.
The tail is exceptional in the detailing of the gold and the enamelling highlights.

It is set in the centre with an Asscher-cut ruby in a milgrain setting, surrounded by a single row of old-small brilliant-cut diamonds. and then again by a row of smaller square French-cut rubies.
It could be called a square target ring, in the elegantly subversive Art Deco style.
