eNum: 3414.CPWP.2802

Highly unusual and original Georgian ring, made in England c1800.
It is set in a fine gold setting with the most amazing intaglio in the centre.
The stone is a cornelian and is beautifully embossed with two fish and some springs, it may date from that period or be much older if collected during a Grand Tour.
It may have been used on a wax seal, when sending post, and have originally been for a family of fish merchants, or if older it may have been a secret seal for a clandestine Christian.
