Pretty original antique mourning brooch from the Georgian period, over 200 years ago, c1760 to 1780. It is set in a fine fifteen-carat yellow gold, which is unusual in itself. It is set in the centre with human plaited hair, to remember someone that has passed, and surrounded on the outside by a single row of cabochon-cut turquoise stones. On the back of the brooch it has a beautiful personal inscription.
