Amazing original antique brooch from the Georgian era, made in England c1780 to 1800. Unusually, It is set in fifteen-carat rich yellow gold. It is beautifully decorated with what is known as cannetille work: gold is woven into a wonderful embroidery pattern. It is set on the right hand side here with an oval-shaped amethyst stone, and on the left hand side with a wonderful citrine stone that they might have been called a “Spanish topaz” at the time!. (The Georgians scientists knew that amethyst and citrine were the same stone, but the general public was not always as clued in.
